Regaining Mobility and Hope

Excess pounds used to weigh me down, physically and mentally. I often felt sluggish. For six years I attempted to shed weight through exercise, but I barely lost a pound. Two years ago, I started to experience excruciating pain in my knees. This sudden problem led me to consult with my doctor, who performed a complete medical exam. Though he could not diagnose the cause of the pain, he did diagnose me as having diabetes and high blood pressure. He prescribed pain medication for my knees to be taken three times a day, for a total dose of nine pills daily. After seven months of medication, the pain continued to plague me.


 

A Bleak Life

Due to being overweight and suffering pain in my knees, I became breathless after walking for about 10 minutes. From a sitting position, I needed to hold on to a person or an object in order to stand up. Walking up three floors to reach my home was a difficult feat. I looked totally drained and lifeless. I didn’t have the freedom to leave the house when I wanted, and felt inadequate to the task of taking care of myself. I became mostly a shut-in. Life for me was bleak.

 

With Pain Comes Gain

On a day in March 2017, I saw a group of people practicing Energy Bagua in a park. When I struck up a conversation, they shared that consistent practice leads one to good health. Though I had doubts about its weight-loss effectiveness, I decided to give the practice a solid try.

At first, my arms felt very sore. I had to frequently shake my hands as I walked. Due to the pain in my knees, I could only walk 15 to 20 minutes a day. However, after 21 days of continual walking, my confidence in Energy Bagua soared — my blood pressure fell from 180 mmHg / 100 mmHg to 155 mmHg / 90 mmHg. (Editor’s note: Healthy blood pressure for adults is less than 120 mmHg systolic and 80 mmHg diastolic.)

After two months of continual practice, I was able to walk an hour daily. To my amazement, my weight decreased from 190 to 170 pounds (77 kilograms). My waist measurement dropped from 42 to 38 inches. My body felt relaxed and my spirit carefree. I felt really joyful.

 

Opportunity to Practice for All

Three months into the practice, I stopped feeling out of breath when I walked long distances. My knees no longer hurt when I stood up and I did not require pain medication. Over a year of practicing Energy Bagua, my blood-sugar level fell from 260 mg/dL to 150 mg/dL. My blood pressure dropped to 130 mmHg / 80 mmHg and remained stable.

I regained my health within a year of starting consistent practice at Bodhi Meditation. I feel like I’ve returned to the days of my youth. I don’t feel tired even when I am out and busy for a whole day. I have the confidence to go out independently and take on challenges.

Now I go to the park for Energy Bagua every morning before heading to work. In the evenings, I attend group practice at the center. I am truly happy and have the energy to look forward to days of fulfilling dreams.

I am very grateful to Grandmaster JinBodhi for teaching Energy Bagua in Myanmar. It has helped so many to regain health and happiness. I sincerely hope that the beneficial effects of Energy Bagua will reach ever-greater numbers of people.
